The 1961 Longhorn staff dedicate this yearbook to you, Miss Mabel Marshall. You have had enduring patience with us, given us guidance and courage to try for higher levels, and most of all, you have been our friend. Through the dedication of this yearbook, we would like to thank you in our small way, Miss Marshall, for the many years of service you have given to us. 2

Yf Congratulations eniors an m',? The Faculty and I take great pleasure in wishing you, the 1961 Graduating Class, every possible success. The purpose of education is to help you meet the challenges of the world. This we have endeavored to do. However, your education is not complete for education is a continuing pro- cess. You will now take up various pursuits that will provide you with additional challenges. We, here at Stockland l-ligh, have at- tempted to help you meet these challenges. Meet them well and have much happiness. james M. Hoyt Dear eniors, Much of your education thus far has been intended to help you to become a good citizen in a good society by teaching you to form opinions for yourself, to respect the opinions of others, to cherish truth, and to form moral values. How much knowledge you will retain from what has been imparted to you, will depend not only upon your capacities but upon the particular circumstances of your way of living. The reins are gradually but surely being placed in your hands. You, largely, will be the master of your destiny. We as teachers, parents and friends, urge you to accept with fervor the challenges of the future. Your own enthusiasm will be contagious, and may help light the way for others. Q Sincerely, Mr. Bury 3 Q .'l 314 021
