We entered the Gatun Locks at tirst light on the fifteenth and headed on for our Grst taste of Pacific salt. The 'gdonkeys did their jolt well, and after eight hours of canal journey. travelogued by our illustrious Comm Officer, llnl- boa and Panama City became the center of at-' traction. This being the Hrst foreign port of call, all hands were duly impressed by the increasing value of the almighty dollar. After partaking of the hospitalities of Cetllflil America, the division steamed uneventfully ffl! San Diego, California. in time to catch St. Nick on his annual journey from the North Pole. Or! Christmas Day he appeared in full regalia on the fantail in time to delight the hearts of ICU Orphans who came aboard to enjoy the hne Clll' sine of our famed 'LStew-burner. Later. teleplwltf operators were kept quite busy keeping pace vfilh the many marathon callers. for which the ship can be noted. But here we could not tarry sinw Waikiki beckoned and promised a most eventful New Year's Eve. The SPanish 'Flavor is eviclenf as we make a souvenir SNP in fropical Panama City.
