BOARD OF EDUCATION SEATED: Mr. Duane Ford, treasurer; Mr. Almon Lathrop, president; Dr. Edward Weddon, secretary. STANDING: Mr. Elwin Breniser, Mr. Dan Howlett, trustees. Not present when picture was taken: Mr. Olin Wild, trustee Mr. Lee Janies, trustee The seven men elected to the board of education must ref lect the educational thought of the school community. These men must spend many hours at regular and special meet¬ ings or at conferences. They must keep themselves informed on many topics, such as cur¬ riculum developments, the new federal programs of Head start, Title I of E.S.E.A., fi¬ nance, and many others. The over-hauling of written policies and labor negotiations take up a great deal of time. They would like to have more time to discuss the aims of educa¬ tion and time to develop a better program to meet the educational needs of the day. Other obligations does not give them this opportunity. 8

SECRETARIES Students in study hall STOP talking to their neighbor so they can hear the morn¬ ing announcements given by Mrs. Grace Collins, Mr. Howlett’s secretary. In addi¬ tion to duties performed for her boss, Mrs. Collins keeps student’s records, marks re¬ port cards, and does various other chores that need to be done. Mrs. Collins is an enthusiastic fan at school games. She is an asset to the spirit of our school. MRS. GRACE COLLINS MRS. THELMA FRINKLE Some people feel that quantity is more important than quality, but a clerical worker must SLOW DOWN in order to attain accuracy. We are glad to welcome Mrs. Polly Dancer here as bookkeeper this year. She handles all of the accounts for the school system. Her personality and efficient work are received with pleasure from those who work with her. Everyone must YIELD to the welcom¬ ing smile of Mrs. Thelma Frinkle, Mr. Batchelor’s secretary. Among her many tasks is marking report cards, selling books, making copies of material for the faculty, and answering the telephone. During her years here she has become a friend of many due to her sense of humor and the good work she does. MRS. POLLY DANCER
