cniar 611155 History On a c r i s p fall morning back in the year 1944, nineteen half-frightened-half thrilled childr en began their long walk dovsm the road of education. Phil Neilson, Price Karr, Sonjia Ehrhart Miller, Fred Thompson, Edwin Parsons, Linda Kelley, Ralph Bell, Don Davis, Gail Larkey, Gar y Turner, Donald Parker, Bill Burkholder, Calvin Bodey, and Tony Atherton started the first mile and com- pleting it satisfactorily moved on to the second. During the third term together there were a few additions, but no permanent ones, until finally in the fourth lap a. small shy boy by the name of Chuck Zollars came to the scene. The fifth grade brought three more bo ysg David R ar den, Walter Hicks, Johnny Sursa, and one girlg Doris Bridges. Winifred A c ke r came along during the sixth frame and Shir le y Heron R a sh settled down to enjoy the seventh mile with Stinnett school and us . On to the eighth where we find Charlotte Rea, Johnny Bennett, Clint Ramsey, Roy Hedgecoke, and Bonnie Parker enrolling. At last the first eight miles have been strolled and covered thr o ughl y and now we ar e about to undertake what is known as high school, where we will start preparing for our senior trip. Excitement was in the air. Our hearts pounded. We scarcely noticed the glances ca s t our way, or heard the wi s per e d, They are freshies. We met new friends some of them in our own class. Bill Womble, Gene Tyson, Betty Brown, and Voncille Wheeler. Sophomoresl We walked sedately and car e full y, but our step had a little skip in spite of our- selves. Lockers banged, old friends called out, and laughter echoed. Terms! Termsl Chlorophyll, osmosis, protoplasml The beautiful glories of God unfolded as biology became a part of our sopho- more conversation. Jim Branstitre, Jeanette Hembree, Janell Peevy, Havel R ober ts on, Jean Seiber, and John Stover joined our class that year. Juniors! Struggling with the mysteries of shorthand and exploring the wonders of a typewriter we started on our way to conquer the business world. ln May we along with new classmates Barbara Pattillo, Cleta Davis, Margaret Young, and Betty Anderson eagerly looked forward to the bi gg e s t project of our junior year ----- the prom. The thrill and excitement ofbeing seniors was finally ours along with Eddie Allen, Theresa Seiber, and Kim Jones who came to Stinnett that year. As seniors everything was the greatest. We excelled in sports, 'studies, and had a wonderful senior trip. Now thatwe have come to the finish line some of us will go just a bit further and complete college for pr ofe s s ional careers while others of us fill different worthy positions in the world.
