In the sophomore year much ol the course is given over to the writing of compositions, Throughout the highschool years the students are required to take either American or English Literature. American Literature is primarily a junior subject while English Literature is an elective for the seniors ln place of English Literature, senior students may take a course in journalism, Speech, or in Prac- tical English. The teachers in the English department are Miss Marguerite Allen, Miss Rosalie Becker, who also teaches Latin, Mrs. Edna Bryan, lN4iss Ruth Bullock. lX4r E. W.
