Sophomores line up activities for the year Activities for the Sophomore class be- gan early in the year with their annual par- ty held in November. Their one-act play, Henry's Mail Order Wife, was well receiv- ed, and likewise, well acted. Those partak- ing in this comedy were: Sally Sommers, Iris Kolbe, Eugene Grove, Walter Sawyer, Con- nie Rosell, Kermit Dornfeld. Dramatics was not confined only to the one-act play, but the following sophomores also had roles in our annual Shakespeare's Left to right: Eugene Grove, Katherine Darrington. Fred Barnholdt, and Mary Welshons. Mr. George J Dream production: Miriam Palm, Connie Rosell, Iris Kolbe, Barbara Clements, Ker- mit Dornfeld, and Shirley Johnson. Many additional students also had parts in the song and dance choruses. Deserving equal praise is the B basket- ball squad which is composed entirely of athletic sophomores. They rounded up their season without a single defeat. Delmon Thompson represented the sophomore on both the basketball and football A squads. vi' 3118 en: adviser

I Miss Ann S Junior class shows 'fa fine prospects for future isel' acSOY1y adv Class of '42 shows remarkable talent in dramatics. Rodger Paul and Nana Kilpat- rick played the leads in the Shakespeare's Dream production in true thespian style. On May 2nd the Junior three act play, New Fires , was presented, directed by Miss Mary Almen. John Dix and George Rydeen were win- ning: essayists. John, a debater, won the an- nual T. B. cssay while George placed first in the contest sponsored by the Minneapolis Tribune on the theme of One Nation In- divisable . Journalistic talent was displayed by Mary Swenson and Mary Rose Seim, who have been selected to edit the Arrow for 1942. Junior boys on the basketball team were Giles Owens, Hoy Erhorn, Dave Farm- er, George Siegfried, Lyle Radke, and Duane Ackerson. Those on the football team were Henry Johnston, Bob Selb, Manley Swanson, Dave Farmer, Bill Heifort, and Giles Owens.
