March 15th. our parents and friends were entertained by two one-act plays presented by the Dramatic Club. and two dramatized scenes taken from the TALE OT TWO CITIES, which were given by the Eighth Grade Students Oaeltafles Directed hy Alice Shepherd Costumes and Setting by Mary Newton Ftlael Merrilat and Shirley Russell Harriet Frances O Nell! Hattie her Pr1m1t1ve Self Vera O Nezll Margaret Anita Doble Maggie her Primitive Self Sarah Frances Savage This play illustrates the sham and oretense demanded ol well bred people by society Margaret who IS starying IS haying tea with her childhood friend Harriet Harriet is married to a wealthy man but is still in love with Margaret s husband John a talented painter who has yet to achieve nnancial success Both ladies carry on a polite conyersation which is interrupted by their Primitive Selves speaking their true feelings While all the portrayals were worthy of mention that of Frances O Neill stood out for IIS suavity and excellent interpretation Roelzfzg Clzazrs Directed by Ilorence Franklzn Costumes and Setting by Hazel Herzog and Helen Raklios Mrs Alms Marian Hawes Mrs Boyle Alberta Wezchmann Mrs Berry Jane McCurdy This was an amusing fast moving sketch centered around two small town gossips Mrs Alms and Mrs Boyle who when the scene opens are vigorously rocking their tongues moving in unison with the movements of their chairs They are slandering one Widow Berry of whom they are jealous The widow stops in and informs them that she has just married the town millionaire When they learn this news they cannot say enough ingratiating things to gain Mrs Berry s favor Credit should be given especially to Alberta XVLICDIIIJHH who undertook I Ile 0 ,l ee0 CIKIGN Madame Defarge Phyllis lxehoe Monsieur Defarge Arthur Bean Road Mender Janet Lezahton Jacquesl 7 3 FlorenceSpencer Betty Jane Htl!
