The play told the story of two teen-age girls trying to help their mother win the Mother of the Year” award and their father, a doctor, to raise funds for a hospital. The plot is complicated when the oldest daughter joins the Triple S Club taking the oath of forty-eight hours silence. These and many other complications helped in producing a play that was enjoyed by all. T. Paukert, J. Gathje, L. Nickels. J. Gathje, D. Runkle, G. Hyland, C. Clendenin, T. Paukert. 54 FRONT ROW--D. Garry 66 68 The 1964 Stewartville Homecoming turned out to be a huge success in all respects. Queen Janis was crowned to the delight of all on Thursday after- noon, October 8. Paulette Derr, Sandy Evenson, Nancy Nichols, and Patty Paukert constituted her court. A Tale of Two Cities was the theme of the winning sophomore float. The clever comment, Let's give them the Dickens added immensely to the effect. And that was exactly what hap- pened, as the Tigers roared to a 26-13 victory over Lake City on Oct- ober 9. A fitting climax to the win was provided at the dance afterward by the exciting music of the Furies. 69 PROM-1964 SAYONARA 70 Pretty cold, but I like snow! is Jill Lesley Vardy's im- pression of Minnesota with its comparatively Arctic climate. A farm near Massra in Victoria, Australia, is the home of 17 year old Jill. She has a sister who is 19, and twin brothers who are 23. As far as school is concerned, she says Ameri- can schools require less note-taking, less written work, more discussion and fewer number of books per class. In fact, for one English class back home, Jill needed 12 books) Students in Australia have the privileges of an hour's break for lunch, a fifteen minute recess in the forenoon, and shorter classes. About life in Stewartville, Jill says, I love it here! And stu- dents from S.H.S. can surely profess that they enjoy her being here every bit as much! JILL VARDY 71 ELEMENTARY SCHOOL ADDITION 72 Sunday, November 15, 1964, was an important date in the history of the Stewartville community, for on that day an open house was held in recognition of the completion of the new addition to the Stewartville Elementary School. The new addition includes: thirteen classrooms, two kindergarten rooms, conference rooms, remedial reading room, audio-visual room, multipurpose room, library, school office, and kitchen. Stewartville can indeed be proud of its modern addition. 73 V A L E N T I N E King Brad and Queen Bev R 0 Y A L T Y The Valentine Party staged by the Girl's Friendship Club was held on February 13, in the high school lunchroom. The highlight of the evening was the Coronation of Bev and Brad Larson by the 1964 king and queen, Gregg Clendenin and Patty Paukert. Bev's attendants were: Susan Fauver, Glynis Hyland, Lynn Putney and Marcia Thorson. Brad's attendants were: Charles Clendenin, Stuart Dormady, Steve Mount and Dean Stenberg.
