TOP ROW: D. Pehl, P. Ellinghuysen, L. Davis, M. Engel, P. Hines, D. Hale, J. Larson, A. Nichlay, R. Wilson, O. Gunderson, Mr. Ronan. FRONT ROW: S. Wiles, E. Evans, D. Pehl, P. Himmer, D. Welch, L. Vomhof, S. Witter, C. Taylor, M. Manthei, P. Zimprich, M. King, S. Janssen. Annual Staff The work of the annual staff began in earnest in October this year and continued until the end of February. Even then not all the work was completed. The business staff still had the job of collecting annual money and distributing the finished yearbooks. The annual staff was headed by co-editors Mary Engel and John Larson, with Pat Hines as business manager. These people were ably assisted by many department heads and the entire staff. Department heads were: Ron Wilson--Art, Deloris Pehl-- School Life, Dianne Pehl--Classes, Edith Evans--Seniors, Paula Ellinghuysen--Fac- ulty, Laurel Vomhof--Activities, Sharon Witter--Athletics. Yearbook staff is not an activity which draws a lot of attention to the students who participate, but it is one of the most demanding of activities from the viewpoint of time and effort involved. Of course, the satisfaction of realizing that you have played a part in producing a good yearbook makes it all worthwhile. Staff at Work Co-editors

Student Council The Student Council is the student-governing body of the high school. It is composed of representatives and the class president of each grade who meet weekly under the direction of Mr. Wantock. The activities of the Student Council are varied and deal primarily with the activities and problems of the student body. The Student Council was instrumental in organizing the American Field Service Chapter in Stewartville, thus making it possible to have a foreign exchange student in our school. It also plans and co-ordinates the Homecoming activities which includes the coronation, the parade, the dance, and the selling of Homecoming pins. Each day during the lunch hour, a student council member can be seen selling ice cream, a project that has proven to be very successful. The officers for this year are: Douglas Johnson, president; Mary Engel, vice- president; Paula Ellinghuysen, secretary; and Peggy Lenton, treasurer.

Librarians The librarians do much to aid students who are using the li- brary whether they are doing research work or looking for a good book to read. The duties of the student librarians are many and varied. Much of the time is spent shelving books, signing passes, and checking books out. Mr. Berg is the adviser to the group. The F.T.A. club is the youngest organization in school. It is be- ginning its third year under the direction of Mrs. Brekke and Mrs. Voxland. The future teachers learn more about teaching as a possible career. They observe the various methods of teaching. During the annual parent --teachers conferences, F.T.A. members serve as guides for the parents and as receptionists for the faculty. F.T.A. TOP ROW: C. DeYoung, M. Malloy, J. Schumann, R. Klenke, B.
