HOMECOMING 1952 On October 3 the annual homecoming celebration was held. The festivities began with a pep fest in the high school gym. Immediately following, the annual parade was held with the band, boy scouts, and different organizations of the school taking part. There were many floats, one of which held a gigantic skunk with a sign reading, Skunk 'em . Another held an S.H.S. football play- er plowing a Plainview player under. The grade children marched carrying banners with slogans printed on them. The band led the parade, and the cheer- leaders led the crowd in cheers for the Tigers. Kick-off time was 8 P.M. with everyone turning out to see the game. Dur- ing the halftime the band gave a splendid marching performance and did a | | I specialnumber with different steps to the tune of Truly Fair ; the queen can- didates were then presented to the crowd. Following the game, the homecoming dance was held in the high school auditorium which was gaily decorated with fall colors and footballs. At 10:30 the coronation ceremony began with the following attendants: Germaine Mullenbach, Nancy Willis, Jeannie Lowrie, and Madelyn Thompson, and their es- corts entering the gym. Following the attendants came little Joyce Holden, the crown bearer. Queen Janet Himmerthen entered the gym escorted by the co-captains, Harold Brekke and Victor Bittner. After the coronation, a grand march led by Queen Janet and Captain Harold, the attendants and their escorts took place. Music for the dance was provided by the Bennett-Greten Orchestra. With the playing of the final number, the 1952 Homecoming Festivities came to a close.
