Freshman Class History We, the class of '51, took our first step on the stairway to success and higher learning on the memorable moming of September eighth, the year nineteen hundred and forty-seven. Now that we have nearly completed our first step, we must keep up our striving efforts to ascend the remaining three steps and receive our valued diplomas--symbols of much hard work and end- less effort on the part of students, teachers and parents. Following our enrollment in S. H. S. was the seemingly never-ending ceremony of initiation. It seemed as though we could never become accustomed to the ways of the upper classmen, but after consistent efforts to disintegrate the authority of the better half tcomposed of Iuniors and Seniorsl, we are be- ginning to find our way around the high school. A Freshman Reception, given by the Sophomores, caused much laughter from everyone who attended. A few weeks later we gave them a return party, which was a great success. Officers for the term were elected as follows: President, Bob Griffin: vice president, Wayne Avery: secretary, Donna Wright: treasurer, Helen Howard: Student Council representatives, Charles Wark and Leona Wood: class spon- sor, Mr. Gill.
