St. Joe. 63 i The Cards, under the leadership of their new coach, Phil Hey, proved themselves a very able and tough team through the basket- ball season, losing only four out of fifteen starts in the regular season, ending up co-champs with the Eddies of the Twin-Five East- ern Division. In the tournaments, they rambled over Baroada and Marcellus for the district championship, and beat the old rival, Bridgeman, and a tough Gobles team for regional championship. But, unfortunately, found their match in the class D state champs, Musk- egon St. Joseph. Although the lose of players will be small in number, it will be hard to replace a all-state player like Bartz, and a very able player as Frank Meyers. The second team had a very rough year, winning only two of their regular games, although trying very hard, they couldn't seem to come on top of their strong opponents. The outlook for next year is very good, we still have John Florian and Bob Nozicka, as our tall palyers, and Little Joe Nozicka, who looks to be a very promising star. Seven of the Varisty are Juniors, and should develop into a great team. ' TOP ROW: Pud Mielke, Tom Vnlacak, Bill Solmons, Gene Wagner, Robert Spear, Larry Holben, Tony Kuball, Larry Dinges.
