62 THE VIDETTE Class Poem 928 'W Dear Alma Mater Holy Shrine, Thy rays of light shall ever shine, To guide the paths of honest men And weld them in a common ken. To some a wider sphere unfolds The vistas of more worthy goalg And yet the humblest child still feels, The glory that thy truth reveals. Supported by thy strong right arm, We fear no foe-our hopes to harmg But trusting ever to thy care We feel thy guidance everywhere. And ere we take our final leave Inspired ever to achieve The lofty aims for which you stand, We place ourselves at thy command. Hail Alma Mater tender, true, Guardian mother these long years through. To thee the children thou served so Well Sing Adieu-to thee, farewell. ALMA PERKINS

THE VIDETTE Adieiul Fare thee well, beloved' Alma Mater, True to thyself we will be. Sweet the memories of thee we cherish As we part from thee. Loath to leave the halls which we love dearly, We depart, sad at heart, Now to thee, we sing our fond adieu, Oh, hear our song, as we part! High School days, the brightest we will know Now have vanished away. Duties, conflicts, challenge us more boldly, Bidding o'er us to hold sway, High School mem'ries linger in our hearts, Days of joy-so carefree, We'll be loyal to our dear old High School, Far from her tho we may be. Swift the years spent 'neath these friendly portals Many the lessons we've learned. Noble precepts from the great immortals On plastic minds have been burned. Teachers, classmates, fond- associations, Severed from them now we'1l beg With reluctant, backward turning glances, We say adieu to thee! -A. C. A. Tune: Gipsy Love Song, from The Fortune Teller' by Victor Herbert.
