The curriculum for Block classes consists mostly of lan- guage, arts, and social studies. In the seventh and eight grade Block classes language and so- cial studies are combined. These two grades emphasize geogra- phy, history, parts of speech, and grammar. Ninth grade classes, however, are not combined. Social studies students learn about various so- cieties. English classes study forms of writing, literature, and speech. After a hard day's work, Mr. Phillips lets out his hostilities.
