Pg Looks like Doug gets a little help from Mark at the Faculty v.s. ninth grade game. Itls no secret that this was a fantastic year for Mason's ninth grade basketball team, and their coach Don Castle. One contributing factor to this great season is the fact that a new record was made! The team had won 12 games in a row, last years was 11. The individual scoring record was made by Tim Weiss, 39 points. The old record was made by Earnie Bragg, 88 points. According to Mr. Castle, IS-2U season is a Good record but you always hope for that undefeat- ed season! The only loss I enjoyed was the one to the mighty Mason facultylln The ninth grade basketball teams STANDING FROM LEFT TO RIGHT: Doug Mowry and Jeff Laatsch. Doug Strader, Dan Watkins, Mark Maxwell, capt. Mark Collard, Mark Gisse, Tim Weiss, Dan McWilliams, Rick Rutkowski, coach Mr. Castle. SITTING FROM LEFT TO RIGHT ARE Rick Burke, Bob Schiele Scott Clauser, john Pickett, Mike Anderson, George Pittenturf. 3U 24

Reaching Out and Catching a Great Season in Baseball Many people think that base players swing a bat, hit the ball, and run a couple of bases if they only knew . . . Masonis baseball team strives for perfec- tion, working out every night to know ex- actly where that ball will come and how harcll to swing that bat, as well as how to run those bases. It's this mental and physical drive that makes our team . . . a team to be proud of. 50
