Team sets new records on way to best season With improvements on rebounding and often- sive output the ninth grade basketball team, led by Coach Donald Castle, set a school rec- ord of l5 Wins and one loss. During the season they also established many other records such as most consecutive Wins: ll, and most points scored in a quarter: 31. Although the boys l coached last year Were- good, these were better. Every player gave a good team effort, no one was out there for in- dividual goals, Coach Castle- commented at season end. He also felt the toughest games were the two against Crary. The Mariners emerged victorious on both occasions, the first time Winning by one point, and the second coming trom behind to Win in overtime. Desire to learn and put iarth their best efforts was the eighth grade tean1's goal. Their positive attitude proved successful throughout the sea- son. The most glorio .s victory was the final game, with Bloomfield Hills, whom they topped by 22 rip-roaring points. They sure showed great team spirit, Coach Michael Miley claimed in praise ot the squad. The seventh grade team showed excellent improvement during the season, boasted Coach lohn Saum. Due to their great enthusi- asm and team work, they came through with a trouncing defeat of East Hills by 30 points. Added to this top-notch display ot team ettort and will to win is the tact that these cagers will return to play again next year. The View ahead promises to he as good as the back- ward glance.
