The club was mainly offered for yearbook students, al- though others could enroll if they had a real interest in photography. They studied the camera iirst, then learned how to take good pictures under all conditions, studying their results critically to discover how they could improve. Using the journalism de- partments Well-equipped darkroom, they found there is more to photography than just taking pictures. They learned how to mix the chemi- cals needed for developing iilm and how to use all the apparatus to print good, sharp pictures in varying sizes. Whether the students were lust curious about the camera and photography, or inter- ested in Working on the photo staff lor the year- book, or maybe seriously interested in photo- graphy as a career, the Photo Club was a good beginning for them. Going over prints they have made, Leslie Williams, Marcia Marcero, and Kim Roy wait for Mr. Keith Phillips to help them evaluate the results. Mr. Phillips discusses their work with each one, and often they learn from their mistakes. Below, Leslie helps lohn Beiltuss adjust the enlarger as they prepare to print another picture. L?
