Because of the great number of stu- dents who visited the nation's capital, the Trip Committee was a busy one. Two representatives and one altemate were chosen from each ninth grade English class. They were responsible tor distributing the candy for the cmnual sale, through which many students earned part of their trip expenses. They also handled all the money from the sales and collected trip payments. This invol- ved keeping careful records and making out receipts. Truly representative, they reported to their English classes, got their opinions, and took them back to the meetings. This way, they could make decisions on the itinerary, choos- ing places where most students wanted to go and which would help them better understand our government, Which, after all, Was the main purpose oi the trip.
