Math, Science Men, beasts solve problems Learning how to solve equations and story problems, determine area and perimeter, cal- culate interest, and add money problems were all part of the mathematics skills students strived for. Ninth grade students had -a chance to de- velop individual tastes with a choice of four math classes, algebra, business math, modern math, and pre-algebra. Seventh and eighth graders continued their efforts to enlarge their mathematical abilities by obtaining a sound background. i The Worlds of matter, energy, and life Were explored in science classes. Studying different animals, life science classes examined the be- havior patterns of two active monkeys, and the physiological patterns of laboratory mice in mazes that students designed and built. Resisting the sales pitch is diffi- cult, Mr. Paul Lampkin discovers as he examines the pair of moon boots offered by Mr. David Heiple. Shelley Warner and Kim North investi- gate the mental reactions of Charlene, the Class B laboratory pigeon. 1 8 I Mad scientists. Mr. John Saum and Mr. Michael Miley might be experimenting with chemical substances for one of their diabolical schemes.
