“f I4 - THE BQLT. ALPHA TAU GMEGA. HE fraternity of ALPHA TAU OMEGA was founded in Richmond, Va., Sep- tember 11'th, 1865, by Messrs. OTIs A. GLAZEBROOK, ALFRED MAR- SHALL, and ERSKINE M. Ross. The latter was then a recent graduate of the Virginia Military Institute, and the two former were members of the gradu- ating class. The fraternity was projected as a national organization, but was compelled by circumstances to confine itself to the South until 1881, when it began the establishment of chapters in many strong Northern and Western colleges. It is governed by its biennial congress, in which all power is vested while in session, and in the meantime by the High Council. The active chapters are in good condition, and State Alumni Associations have been formed in Alabama, Georgia, Kentucky, North Carolina, Virginia, and South Carolina. Its most important publication is the Ayha Taa Omega Palm, a quarterly magazine established in 1880. The fraternity also publishes a register of its members, among whom are noted the following : Rev. Gtis A. Glazebrook, Chaplain of the University of Virginia, Rt. Rev. C. T. Qui-ntard, D.D., S.'l'.D., Bishop of Tennessee, Rev. Isaac S. Hop- kins, A.M., M.D., D.D., Ph.D., Vice-President of and Professor in Emory College, Prof. N. Wiley Thomas, of Pennsylvania, Prof. E. J. Shires, of Wit- tenberg College, Prof. H. H.
