The physical education program at Stevens High'School was extremely different this year. Because of facilities and having only one gym, the boys and girls participated in co-ed gym classes. In observing these classes it was noticed that the students learned to be more tolerant and more respectful of ability differences. Even though the classes were co-ed, both sexes en- gaged in their own activities. For instance, the girls Worked on gymnastics, While the boys bet- tered their basketball skills. Mr. Williams supervises as Jack Gossman leads his class in their routine calisthenics. s

MEZZ' Rhonda Lynn and Carol Jensen point out essential articles a baby needs. Preparing for a new life Due to the split sessions in the Central High building at the beginning of the year, Home Economies students had many adjustments to make in their currioultun. However, most stu- dents agreed that it was worth the wait to get to the new equipment at Stevens. New kitchens gave students the opportun- ity to cook with some of the latest equipment. Students also made outfits on new sewing ma- chines. In addition to cooking and sewing, Home Economics students learned techniques to help them in their households. Drivers Education is designed with the in- experienced driver in mind. It teaches the rules of driving, gives simulated driving experiences and behind the wheel driving. Because of the cost of drivers education, a fee of 9515 was charged each student this year. Also, because Stevens was a new school, simu- lators were not received until late in the year. Statistics show that there are fewer acci- dents among educated teenage drivers than among uneducated teenage drivers. Mr. Long explains the necessity of seat belts as Robin Johnson buck1es up for safety. Mr. Long, Robin Johnson, and Glen Giacoletto prepare for their morning drive.
