Drama class brought out the hidden talents of students who took the course. Drama I be- gan with learning the origin of drama, pa1'tS of the stage, and stage equipment. Writing and PSI' forming skits came next whereby students showed their abilities as performers. Drama II taught how make up is used and how it could make different effects on stage, how costumes serve the mood and body move- ments in them on stage, and how to arrange furniture and color for a room effect. After completing the two courses, each counting as a half an English credit, students were ready for parts on stage in school pro- ductions. Cliff Voss, Jean Harrison, Jim Didier, and Sheliah Jung collect information for the next debate. Debate team Wins trophies Mark Laitos, Bruce Anton Cstandingb Jeff Brockelsby, and Jeff Griffith Csittingy admire their trophy. Stevens High debate team did a good job in its first year including bringing home a trophy from the George McCarty Invitation- al Tournament at South Dakota State Uni- versity in Brookings. They also won 7 out of 15 debates with 44 teams Competing. Through the year the affirmative team Won 8 and lost 6. The negative team Won 16 and lost only 3. All the work started in class such as looking in magazines for informa- tion, writing the information down on note cards, filing the cards, and making use of the information.
