This year's English curriculum varied greatly from any other year. For the first students had the chance to pick what kind of English course they wanted. A semester of Speech was still required for sophomores, but students could choose the rest of their English courses. The courses were chosen by the students with the help of their English and Homeroom teachers on the basis of four levels. The courses were chosen on ability rather than grade level. A few of the courses offered were: Mass Media, Mythology, American Literature, Vocational English, Individualized Reading, and many more too numerous to mention. Miss Poffenberger lectures C75 her Speech Class. Sam Mudlin and classmates think Mass Media is interesting and enjoyable. time in the history of Rapid City's high schools,

Drama class brought out the hidden talents of students who took the course. Drama I be- gan with learning the origin of drama, pa1'tS of the stage, and stage equipment. Writing and PSI' forming skits came next whereby students showed their abilities as performers. Drama II taught how make up is used and how it could make different effects on stage, how costumes serve the mood and body move- ments in them on stage, and how to arrange furniture and color for a room effect. After completing the two courses, each counting as a half an English credit, students were ready for parts on stage in school pro- ductions.
