192 First semester Econ Board snacks at Taylor's Restau- rant before getting down to business. Econ. Board offers scholarships The Economics Scholarship Fund, Inc. was an investment corporation chartered under South Dakota law and operated within Stevens High. The purpose was to provide a growing scholarship fund for awarding academic achievement in economics and to teach principles of economics through practical experience. The corporation was controlled by a board of directors elected from all Econ classes. First semester directors were: Dana West, Presidentg Barry Wick, Vice President, Linda Anderson, Secretaryg Terry Braden, Treasurerg Judy Minyard, Paul Haedt, Jim Didier, Kent Stevens, Wong Mun Hoe, Ryland Larimer, Starla Walkup, and Colleen Lange. Second semester di- rectors were: Dick McNeil, Presidentg Burt English, Vice Presidentg Theresa Mumm, Secretaryg Janice Miller, Treasurerg Dan Simpson, Gene Wiley, Candy Moore, Dick Ewing, Tom McFarland, Dave Gibson, Bon- nie Hirning, and Dave Grebner. Mr. Mead was the trustee and advisor. The Corporation invests in the stock market and other securities. The board had about 38,000 invested and awarded S100 in prizes for the top two scores on an Economics test.
