nnnmum-MM,...au,,1, Members of the 1969-70 sophomore basketball team are: Qfront rowj Tom Kushman, Lee Shephard, Steve Kjell- sen, Bob Mudge, Doug Larsen, Greg Breemes, Dana Legner, and Doug Whitttecarg fback rowj Dean Henzlik, Lance Becker, Brett DeBoer, Bruce Penticoff, Dan Pittman, Rob Finley, Ken Harrison, and Mike Sisson. Mar. 12 and 13 saw the time for the section seven tournament to roll around. During the tournament the Raiders played the Patriots and Cobblers. Although Douglas turned out to be a little fistier than was expected, the Raiders downed the Patriots 67-56. Meeting the Cobblers for the third time it turned out to be a rough-and-tumble game all the way. Trading the lead off and on through out the game, the Raiders found themselves lowmen on the totem pole in the last five minutes of the game. Working their way up from a five point deficit the Raiders tied the game 71-71 all with one minute left. With one second left Jack Ten- nyson recovered the ball on a rebound and threw a last second desperation shot. lt went through! The Cobblers won again, 73-71. For the Raid- ers this shot ended the 1969-70 season. Sophs show good potential 157

156 Players exhibit skill On Feb. 12 the Raiders lost to their cross-town rivals in the second intra-city play-off. Although the Cobblers managed to keep the lead pretty much throughout the game the Raiders moved up to take the lead toward the end of the third quarter and man- aged to keep it up to the final three minutes of the game. Before 4,800 screaming fans the Cobblers pulled ahead of the Raiders and won the game 80-75. The Raiders traveled to Sioux Falls over March 5 and 6 for a return engagement with Washington and Lincoln. Playing Washington first again, they edged past the Warriors on a basket by Doug Oltmans in the very last seo- ond. The Raiders lost to the Lincoln Patriots with a 15 point margin. Avenging their earli- er loss the Patriots rolled over the Raiders 65-50.
