Raiders play B. B. November 28 saw the Raiders lose to the Huron Tigers 73-70 in the first game in the school's history. The following night they sank five points in an overtime and the Mitchell Kernals went down to the Raiders 81-76. Traveling to Pierre for their next battle, the Raiders were unable to overcome Pierre's experience as they were downed 78-69. December 13 they were bumped off for the second time by Scottsbluff Neb. 81-74. Using their home court for the first time on Dec. 19 didn't seem to help much as they were whipped by 3rd ranked QWyoming confer- encej Cheyenne Central 85-67. fi Dave Collins attempts a little fast foot work in trying to by-pass a member of the opposing team, A Patriot seems to be up in arms upon encounter- ing Mark Benner, On Dec. 26 and 27 the Raiders hosted a holiday tourney in the Stevens' gym. Par- ticipating in the two-day events were the Cobblers, Sioux Falls Washington, and Sioux Falls Lincoln. Washington slipped past the Raiders 69-67 in their first engagement of the year. The Lincoln Patriots lost to the Raiders 68-58 on the following night. The celebration over the Lincoln game was short lived when, on January 3, Spear- fish traveled here for a 66-53 win over the Big Blue. Jan. 9 saw the very first intra-city clash between the Central Cobblers and SHS Raiders. In a game in which the final two minutes were to tell the outcome of the game the Cobblers emerged on top. Dave Collins narrowed the margin to 66-61 in the final seconds with a fantastic 25 foot jump- shot. 153

A week later showed that the Raiders 6 oouldn't pull out of their slump when the Belle Fourohe Broncs came down here to go back with a 66-55 Victory under their belts. ' On Jan. 24 the Black Hills conference sent the Lead Gold Diggers down to play the Raiders. In a hard fought overtime battle the 'Diggers went down 63-62. On their home court the Casper Natrona's Mustangs showed why they were ranked no. 1 in Wyoming as they ripped through the Raiders 80-55 on Feb. 6. In the second contest between the Lead 'Diggers and the Raiders, the Raiders came out on top again, but this time by a little wider ad- vantage.
