'Ju ' 4 THE PRINCIPAL'S DAY IS A LONG ONE. To the Class of 1954: Congratulations on this tangible evidence of your teamwork in completing another major school project with the success that has marked many of your efforts of the past four years. Your yearbook has a very appropriate and thought-provoking theme, A Day at Stevens. A day in your school life is really an important event. So much can happen, even in the few hours when you are actually in school, that may have far-reaching effects. It may be the day on which you decide your future career, or the one when you discover that a certain teacher has your welfare at heart and is a good source of advice for you, or that special one when you make a new friend among your schoolmates. Character and progress can be attained only by living each day to the best of one's abilities. I sincerely hope that for each of you the total of all your school days adds up to prepara- tion for an upright, interesting, and useful life in the days to come. I should like to take this opportunity to thank Miss Irma Willey for so graciously accepting the task of guiding the staff of the Red and Black in Mr. Paquette's year of absence for study. She has fulfilled her role as adviser cheerfully and efficiently. The class of 1954 may well add their deep grati- tude to mine for her services. Devotedly yours, Wfw
