Four Years ln'The Halls Offlvy Dear Steubenville High School, We, the 100th graduating class of Steubenville High School, would like to share with you some of the warmest memories of our wonderful four years at S.H.S. As freshmen, we looked up to the seniors, dreaming of the day when we would take their place. We remember the excitement of electing our first class officers: Bob Porco, president, Russ Jimeson, vice- presidentg Jane Kinney, secretary, Helen Mellish, treasurer. Our class was the largest of all that year, with an enrollment of 379. We selected as our class motto In Ourselves Our Future Lies.', Serving as our Steuben Queen was Mary Jane Arthurs and her attendants were Nancy Finfrock and Judy Poff. Our freshmen teams made us so proud by winning some very decisive victories over powerful teams. We knew that these players would be looked upon to carry the varsity fortunes within the next few years. We felt more at home when we entered as the sophomore class in the fall of 1956. Our class of- ficers that year were Glenn Campbell, president, Judy Poff, vice-president, Bill Smittle, secretaryg and Gretchen Letzelter, treasurer. Serving again as our Steuben Queen was Mary Jane Arthurs with Nancy Finfrock and Pearl Reynolds on her court. Our class was well represented by the reserve teams, who showed tremendous speed and slipped past many opponents by close scores during the basketball season. Before we knew it, we were starting our third year at S.H.S. Our Junior Class Officers were presi- dent, George Milosevichg vice-president, Virginia Reynolds, secretary, Lynne Hopkins, and treasurer, Dean Altizer. Our first big class project was our Junior Play, which was a great success. We discovered some wonderful acting talent in our class. Chosen as our Steuben Queen for the third year was Mary Jane Arthurs, and attending her were Patty Stephenson and Donna Clancy. In remembering sports, The Stubbers compiled the best season record in football since 1953, by playing, what was considered by some, the toughest schedule in the state. Do you remember our heavenly Junior Prom 'Southern Splen- dorw? We were so proud of the wonderful job done by Chairman Pat Werkin assisted by Ed Weinman, decorating chairman. As we returned for our final year, a. little smaller in number, a lot wiser, we looked forward to all the traditional events which would be a part of our senior year. We felt so proud to be the 100th gradu- ating class of our wonderful school. Chosen to lead bell. He was assisted by Dick Dever, Donna Clancy, wonderful time we had at our own Senior Prom, Anna Jacot. Reigning as Homecoming Queen was Nancy Finfrock, Mary Jane Arthurs, Pearl Reynolds, an outstanding job and really deserved a lot of credit. only one senior, represented us well. Steuben Queen our class through our last year was Glenn Camp- and Dave Wells. Many of us will never forget the f'Fantasy In Frost. Chairmen were Paul Brandt and Miss Donna Clancy. Serving on her court were and Donna Humes. Our varsity football team did Our varsity basketball team, although composed of was Patty Stephenson, attended by Nancy Woods and Judy Poff. After the Senior Play, Senior Assembly, and Senior Banquet, the day of days had arrived: our graduation. What happens to many of us after graduation has been determined by our four years at S.H.S. As we look back on our wonderful years, a little sad to leave perhaps, but looking forward to the future, we will to the succeeding classes the high ideals and The Class happy times that we have shared. Good luck, Steubenville High School. SENIOR CLASS OF 1959 Of 1959 26
