Miss Margaret Boyd has ably served as assist- ant superintendent for the past nine years. Miss Boyd, a former mathematics teacher at S.H.S., received her B.A. degree from Mount Union College, her M.A. degree from Ohio State University, and has had graduate work at Co- lumbia University, Penn State, Miami University, University of Cincinnati, and Kent State. Having been president of the Ohio Education Association, she is now one of the Ohio Directors of the National Education Association and inter- national president of the Delta Kappa Gamma Society. Her many community activities include the Civic Service League, Steubenville Womenis Club, American Association of University Women, Ohio Pan Hellenic, and League of Women Voters, Miss Boyd is a member of the Westminister Presby- terian Church. The members of the Steubenville Board of Education are public minded citizens who desire the best possible education for the young people ofthe community. Sitting from left to right are Mr. Herbert Leicy, presidentg Miss Mary Eberts, clerk-treasurer, and Mr. Fred W. Dougherty, vice-pres- ident. Standing from left to right are Mr. C. C. Roberson, superintendentg Dr. C. W. Lighthizer, Mr. Robert King, Mr. F. J. Mick, and Mr. LeRoy Schell, city solicitor. Mr. C. C. Roberson has headed the Steuben- ville school system since September 16, 1957. Before his arrival at Steubenville, he had pre- viously served for 29 years as teacher, principal, and superintendent in the schools of Lyons, Meta- mora, Continental, Ada and Maumee, Ohio. He also held the honored position of Chairman ofthe Division of Teacher Education at Ohio Northern University. Mr. Roberson received his B. S. degree from Oakland City College Clndianaj, and his M.A. degree from Ohio State University. He has taken post-graduate work at Ohio State University. Besides being active in various community drives, he is a member of the LaBelle Methodist Church, the Sigma Phi Delta Kappa, Kiwanis Club, and Y.M.C.A. 16

Principal Dr. M. E. Gardner is now completing his first full year as principal of Steuben- ville High School, after assuming his du- ties in January of 1958. He came to S.H.S. from Massillon, Ohio, where he served as Dean of Boys and Director of Guid- ance for over seven years at Washington High School. Dr. Gardner, a graduate of Dundee High School in Dundee, Ohio, received his Bachelor's Degree from Kent State University and a Doctorate Degree in Education from the University of Pitts- burgh. He is a member ot LaBelle View Meth- odist Church where he teaches a teen- age Sunday School class, a member of the Kiwanis Club, YMCA, and Phi Del- ta Kappa.
