M x The Real Winners give Don ' t give until it hurts until it feels good. If that ' s the case, then Stetson students and faculty must feel great about their contribution to this year ' s Greenfeather. The 1 986 Greenfeather campaign was one of the most successful ever. The week brought students and faculty to work together in the spirit of giving. Not only did the Stetson community raise an unprec- edented amount of money, but en- thusiasm and participation reached an all time high. It was an incredible sight to see each person put aside academic pressures and spend time contributing to the welfare of those less fortunate in the DeLand area. The true winners of Greenfeather are neither the organizations with the most participation points nor the winners of the individual events. The real winners are the re- cipients of the money that is raised. The children who benefit from the Evergreen Day Care Center, Meth- odist Children ' s Home, and the Eas- ter Seal Society have won ... the families that use Hospice, the Duvall Home, and the Red Cross have won . . . and the people that need the services of the House Next Door, Neighborhood Center, and United Way have won. And we, who have learned the importance of caring and the feeling of sharing ourselves with others . . . we, too, have won. : ♦ : f A o « a Real Life Experience The word organizations is so general, it can mean many differ- ent things to many different peo- ple. To those involved, it usually means working together to ac- complish a common goal. Work- ing with others, be it in a service club, a business fraternity, or a so- cial club, can be extremely reward- ing. Being involved with a variety of groups helps a person to grow and learn about himself and oth- ers. Ideally, a student ' s purpose at Stetson centers around classrooms and textbooks, the real life ex- perience of involvement in stu- dent organizations can comple- ment the overall result. A balance of both is necessary for a well- rounded education. LAURA McCarthy Class of 88 — A VIEW FROM WITHIN — L 10 Student Organizations
