WILLIAM SIMS ALLEN, A.M., Ph.D., LL.D. President of the University the president ' s message Stetson continues to go forward. The session 1938-39 has been outstanding in a number of ways. Scholarship has exceeded previous years. The enrollment is the highest in the Institution ' s history. Students have shown unusually deep interest in the Forum lectures, in debate, in literary activities, in student gov- ernment, in the finest music, in dramatics, in religious services. The great scholarly Faculty has given its best to make the Uni- versity finer. Thus the year has been one of marked success. The ideals of Stetson, from its founding, have been scholarship, culture, Christian character. The ideals are the same today. As the University continues to grow it must ever be so. Stetson will thus ever be distinctive in its contribution to civilization. Sincerely, William Sims Allen, President
