My Town IMAGINE everyone has a natural and tender regard for hrs home town rf hrs recollectrons of rt are assocrated wrth pleasant frrends and happy trmes 'Ihrs nostalgrc fondness must also be magnrfied rf the rndrvrdual has spent hrs whole lrfe rn the place of hrs brrth ln my case, although I am not old I have developed a proud attachment to my home town Ran dolph I lrke to feel that rt rs my town I want to feel that every rmprovement made rn th town rs also a personal rmprovement and that every farlure rs a personal loss In short I lrke to thrnk of the town as a part of me and more rmportant, of me as a part of the town Randolph has muth of whrch to be proud Few places can boast of a more beautrrul srght than the southern entrance to Crawford bquare wrth rts large over hangrng trees and rts stately old New hngland homesteads 'Ihe hrgh school although rnaoequate scholastrcally rs not a bad out before rt rs truly very beautrful The many handsome trees on the premrses and the bushes along the front of the burldrng along wrth the World War II honor roll add much to the ap pearance of the school Farther along South Marn Street we may vrew town hall wrth the frne classrc outlrne patterned after the temples of ancrent Greece and Rome Down the marn street of Randolph we see the rmposrng and rarely beautrful archrtectural desrgn of the Turner Publrc Lrbrary The con tents of the lrbrary are also adequate enough to supply the townsfolk wrth materral to develop therr mrnds and broaden therr scope of com prehensron Farther along the street we see con structron of new modern burldrngs and reno vatrons of others rn progress Towards the northern end of the town we encountered the marestrc Blue Hrlls Along North Marn Street too, are many fine old homes and qurte a large number of beautrful new homes Great Pond and rts surroundrng carefully tended landscape also forms a part of North Randolph The five churches of the town are permanent drgnrfied lookrng burldrngs a credrt to those who worshrp under therr roofs The fire depart ment of Randolph rs an able well trarned out fit whrle the polrce department wrthout ex aggeratron, must be the 6065! of any town of comparable srze rn thrs great Commonwealth H0 or possrbly even the country Patrrck McDon neu the cnref rs one of the frnest most just law enforcement oflrcers I ever hope to meet Ihe many crvrc fraternal, and relrgrous organr aatrons offer a chance for r quret unpretentrous socral lrfe I have just lrsted the good thrngs of the town As everywhere there are bad features rn Ran dolph brrt I belreve the more serrous of thesc rre berng rcmecrreo An ambrtrous school ex pansron program hrs been undertaken to al levrate crowued school condrtrons 'lhe marn street rs to be vt rdened consrderably to take care of a serrous traffrc srtuatron and other streets rre to be reparred followrng the proposel pass rge of a Betterment Act 'lhere rs the problem of a sewer rge system but that rs not berng over lt oked by the town frthers who are studyrng rt There are many other problems such as ade quate housrng of the fire department but these 1 practrcrl solutron Takrng all these rforesard rtems rnto consrder atron I feel sure anyone wrll justrfy me rn mv town prrde whrch though preludrced as I may be seems destrned to grow as Randolph grows For added to these materral thrnvs set down rn a materral manner can also be put somethrng whrch cant be wrrtten down somethrng rnsrde of me th rt tells me that thrs rs my town Frank I-larrrs 50 CTUDENT COUNCIL Seated tlefl to nglatj Secretary Pat Bens Presrdent Anthony DAmelro Advrsor Mrss Thomson Vrce Presrdent Barbara Foote Treasurer Rrchard Holmes Standrng Marrlyn Larson Carol Rose Phrlrp Brew ster Agnes Hobson Ted Reese Vrrcrl Naveau Paul Lyman Shrrley Mrlls . . . .
