Twenty SIX Srarsotv HILH Scnoot CLASS HISTORY By Kc mzetb uber: PRESHMEN On the srxth day of September rn the year of our Lord 1944, a new Freshm IH class enterel the sacred halls of our lxttle red school house Our class, on puttrng foot 1nto Stetson for a four year vrsrt, was the product o two element .try schools Prescott and Dcvrne Beforc then wc were r1vals Wfhen one menuoned Prescott .among members of the Devrne aggregatron h was looked upon wrth scorn Upon lookrng rnto Prescott the sttuatron was found to be the sunt But now we knew that we were com pelled to work under the same roof so we shook hands smoked the proverbral peace prpe and unrted to form the greatest class ever to tread the halls of Stetson fEven rf I do sav so my se Whatever rdea we had of ourselves, however was of no rmportance to a very unsy mpathetxc Senror class Customary mrtratton of the ex tremely unwlllrng freshmen began on the first d1y of school We the petrrfied underclassmen d1d our best to grrn and bear the fiendlsh antrcs pelled to drscontrnue thrs butchervng as a result of .1 very low attendance record of our class Then one d1y we went rnto tht assembly hall where we elected class offlcers XY' e decrded that we should follow the custom and elected mem bers of the male sex to the oresrdency and the treasury whrle bestowrng the riutres of vxce presrdent 1nd secretary' or two of our femrnrne marvels Then one dry we held a meet ng We felt th rt we should st1r up a httle excrtement before wmter set ln so we voted ves on a hayrrde Th1S affarr turned out to be a load of fun for our frolrcsome members When wmter arrn ed we found ourselves very busy shovelmg snow The f1v0r1te pastrmt was you gues ed rt movies Well wrnter passed the days became hotter md we became lazler We Hnally became aware of the fact that summer was on us, so one hot dav rn Tune we made a hasrv departure from the htrle red school house on South Maru Street Wfe were off rn a cloud of dust to the land of no school The hanpv close of our first year was rust the cnd of the beginning for us But the first year IS the hardest and oh how heartily we can testxfy to that' SOPHOMORLS Once agam the beloved port 1ls of our co lossal shelter of knowledge opened to welcome back four hundred very reluctant puprls we were compelled to roll out of bed at ten mm utes past etght rn order to make school by 8 lb 1 m, and once agam we were burdened w 1th books that were seemxngly endless rn therr con tents lt was tough golng at Hrst but a very alert sophomore class was rxght back ln the swxng of thmvs rn two shakes of the proverbral lambs tarl The class electrons were held rn the assembly h1ll Ill October 1nd the elected drd therr yobs well throughout the year Thrs ye 1r, as a means of attarnrng 1 lrttle extra mooll for class use dues were collected once 1 week W1th the arrlval of w rnter our g1y blades dug out therr rce skates and hocl ey strcks for use at the local ponds However, our lads and fwell at least a for Clllflllg the l1ss1es also showed a talent hkmgj for roller skatmg, l1rge aggregatton of av1d skaters wartrng 1m patrently for the Roll Land bus W1th the passrng of wrnter wc felt the urge to strrke up a lxttle excrtement Nye held a class meetrng to decrde just what we wanted to do to lrghten our devrltsh hearts After a hundred or more suggesttons one of our brrghter mem bers suggested a pop concert We held our pop concert at the Town Hall Our entertarn ment commrttee furnlshed us wrth 1 few not able artrsts, whrle the refreshment commrttec provided our heavrer eaters w1th plenty to do 1Comm1ttees' Commrttees' We even had com mrttees to appolnt Commrtteesll J The event was a roarmg success, Qof course? Because of the warm sprrng weather we c1me to the conclusron that rt would be a good rdea to cool off, so one beautxful day rn the merry month of May we packed our duds jumped into a couple of buses, and took off for Nan tasket When we arrrved, evervone prtched htmself IHIO rl day of uproarlous fun W1th our Sophomore year Ill petered out we kissed Mr Grlgan goodby gathered our pencils and paper, and left the Great Structure for our own lrttle hacrendas D 1 I Y ' 1 . , .
