1946 '7fze Qaacle Page WE RETURN TO THE FOLD HI: school year of 1945 46 w1ll long be re membered 1n Stetson hxstory as a season of sports accomplrshments At the openmg of the school year lf was learned that the hrgh school had after an absence of several years returned to the folds of the Headmasters As SOCIHIIOH One of the rules of the 01'g1fllZ3I1OIl states that all the athletes must be passmg three major subyects to partnclpate nn school sports letnc events such as the Tech Tourney and schools not assocrated Wllh rt are not eleglble to compete The football team went through a thrrlllng eason undefeated and brought the bacon home for the frrst trme 1n the schools hrstory rn the form of the Class D co champronshrp The hoop flve ended a fast season wrth an ll and 3 record and were 1nv1ted to compete nn the schoolboy tourney played on the Boston Garden boards Formatnon of four leagues among South Shore hrgh schools called the Southern Con ference adds keener competmon to the sport and the award of a cup for the wrnner of each league glves somethmg for whlch the boys can strxve FOOTBALL I'IH all eleven fnrst strmgers havmg var snr experience much was expected of the 1945 Stetson grid edltlon After a few weeks of hard practrce the team lmed up against Hmgham rn the South Shore Football Jamboree as follows Right end Jackre Callahan Cal rs our of fensrve end and IS a born pass snagger jack also does the puntxng for the club On the op poslte vtmg lb Larry Mason Larry IS the fnghter of the club and when the chlps are down thats when Larry ns ln the thlckest of the frght Larry plays a crashmg type of game that makes h1m an expert play breaker Ready to step rn for either was Bmg Corey who coull handle erther wtng wrth ease Mates to these boys are oe De Slsto and Pottsre Porter both yumors oe and Pottsne are two bug reasons why the opposition only scored three touch dow ns all year through our llfle Big nd rug A1 ,, V li I I ' ' s 4 .
