The Class ol 1946 devotedly dedieates this volume to MR, Ciioiteii E. Citiwimims Mit. Crimmins was inducted into the United States Army after the close of the school year on june 29, 1945. He went to Camp Ellis, lllinois, for basic training in the Quartermaster Corps. Wltile on bivouac he was made first a corporal on October 1, 1943, and a buck sergeant November 1, 1943. In january, he returned East to Camp Kilmer, New Jersey, for shipping overseas. He left the states january 19, 1944, going through the Panama Canal to New Caledonia, After a stop of three weeks he was sent north to the Fiji Islands, thence to Guadalcanal and landed at Bougainville, the largest of the Solomon group of islands. He remained there for seventeen months, en- gaged largely in guard duty, and in loading and unloading ships. He left Bougainville August 1945, went to New Guinea, thence to Leyte and Manila City where he remained until january 6, 1946. Mr. Crimmins was made a Staff sergeant in Manila, joined 692nd Co. A Engineers. returned home on February 4, 1946, and to Stetson on Feb- ruary 25, 1946. Mr. Crimmins has spent two years overseas. Mr. Crimmins was engaged in the Second Battle of Bougainville, for which he was awarded a battle star.
