1946 '75 Gfuzcfe Page Twenty bfbfbx f X XD f Jxy e X fwaxf bffwfx XQQ1 CLASS HI TORY l-reshmen Year N the fall of 1947, somethrng occured rn Randolph that would change the hrstory of the entrre world Cor so we thought 9 , the class of 1946 entered the portals of the famed rn strtute of knowledge Stetson Hrgh School Wrthout the shyness and aweness of our pre decessors, we of the freshman class came wrth much self confrdence, stormrng the grounds of S H S and takrng the haughty upper classmen by complete surprrse Soon all thrs Brg Stuff left us, due marnly to the huge two by four plank wrelded by many senrors whrch made many wonder why the freshmen boys preferred to st 1nd whrle consumrng therr lunch The trrbe w rs scattered over the three courses offered at Stetson, wrth a few attemptrng to major the college course, more rn the com mercral and most rn the general, frndrng the rtmosphere rn that category most pleasrng to our type of student As freshmen we were looked down upon as dumbfbells and rnfants The upper class men should have remembered that they were once Freshmen They say that you can al w ays drstrngursh 1 freshman by the rnqursrtrve look on hrs face Well that rs probably so because the rooms and system at Stetson were new to us and once we got on to rt we owned the place Cor so we thoughtj Ah' Were we brg shots' We went to the polls and elected to lerd us through our rn augural year Hrs Honor Robert Hurley Presr dent Mrss Thelmr Frrth Vrce Presrdent rnd Art Mann takrng c1re of the corn After one meetrng of our class rn whrch drsorder con fusron and chaos rergned the freshmen drd not meet agarn all year Yes 1 wrld class hrd entered Stetson when they could not hold an orderly meetrng for forty frve mrnutes Houghton s Pond was the scene of our Fresh men outrng whrch most of the gang attend ed It was our last get together as fresh men and a good trme was enjoyed by all and we returned home vorcrng our approx al of such excursrons Already our future Stars were showrng them how to do rt on both court and dramond, n the form of Stan Ferrrs Ken Stewart, Frank Dockendorff Larry Mason, and Brng Corey Ah what 11 class' l ' ' By the end of june 1943, we were rejorcrng bec11use were not we now Noble Sophomores and rn 11 posrtron to boss a sub class' But that rs another story BrllLeav1tt 46 Sophomore Year INETY shVhN per cent of the class put rn 1 sunburnt rppetrance rt Stetson rn Sep tember 1nd prep1red to endure mother semes ter rn the school We were escorted to our home rooms Q17 76 etcj and from there dr ected ourselves to our respectrve frrst perrod rooms to begrn our second year of studres Around the end of thrs month of September the school began to drsplay srgns of lrfe as the electron of class offrcers wrs now at hand George Connelly well known shaper was chosen to the honorary offrce of Class Presr dent whrle Thelmr Frrth Mary Norton and Art Mann were elected as Vrce Presrdent Sec retary 1nd 'lrersurer rn thlt order A few sophomores represented our clrss on the frrst team rn football a team that put forth rts best efforts to wrn glory Coach Zapustus c1llecl for brsketbrll crndrdates on November I9 1nd mrny sophomores were on hand to dns pl ry therr wrres One of our classmates made the frrst term rs the number srx man and the second term WIS mrde up of almost ll sophomores An rntcrruptron of short vrcatrons two suc tessful mrnstrel shows and a couple of class dances 1nd btsebrll and the sprrng season frntlly arrrved Our hrstorrc class was agarn reoresented on the frrst team rn each of the three sports as no less than four sophs made the frrst term A medrocre season followed 1nd rn no trme at 1ll the senror boys of the school were prcyrng on rnnocent grrls rn rm 1 X fc , ,ar H , a , 1 Y XXX xlfxf X1 1 2' S11 Sec, X, lv- X, -scfx- L 1 1 1 , . , , 1 ....
