YOCHEVED GRUNBERGER EDITOR To my fellow Graduates: Senior year evokes birrersweer feelings. Four years of prepara- tion for rhe big world have flown by and now ir is rime ro emerge from our familiar environment and accomplish rhe goals for which we have prepared. We, rhe class of 1983, are luckier than pre- vious graduating classes. It was during our college years that the faculty began ro recognize rhe new needs of Jewish women, and the revised curriculum reflects this recognirion. Although we initially fought the Jewish Studies Core program, we now realize how beneficial ir is. The variety of courses has given us rhe opporruniry ro study Judaica as equally in-depth as secular studies; requirement changes have allowed us ro diversify our course of study. Doth changes have upgraded our educarion and enabled us ro encounrer many areas of learning. The quesrion is: Where do we go from here? When asked whar he rhoughr rhe purpose of srudy was, George Herberr Palmer replied: That ' s what education means — to be able to do what you ' ve never done before. We are an amazing bunch of women; we will be nurses, arrisr, wnrers, accounranrs, teachers, and soon-ro-be doctors, lawyers, hisronans, etc. — the opporruniries ore limitless. Finally the Jewish community has begun to appreciate the tension we confronr when attempting to synthesize career goals and Jewish values. The job is nor easy, but we have been prepared ro meer rhe challenge. With Sincere Wishes for a Drighr Furure, T 22 Messages
