Admil1iSI1ri:lti0l1 Mr. Mauck, principal at Sterling Middle School for the past eight years, was the final authority on decisions affecting our school. He not only kept us from running in the halls but also saw that the school was open for shows and concerts. He made reports to the Central Office that were complete and on time. He supervised the overall functioning of the school, from students to finances. His jobs were many and varied and kept him very busy but he did like to have contact with the students as much as possible. Wulf' .th Ms. Comet was the assistant principal in charge of curriculum. She developed the master schedule for all classes at S.M.S. and helped schedule each student into those classes. Ms. Landolt was the assistant principal in charge of discipline and building maintenance. She was the person who contacted parents or guardians when a student had a discipline problem or needed extra help in some area. She also had the responsibility of seeing that our school was kept in order so that the learning pro- cess could take place.

Mrs. Behrs found substitute teachers, did the lunch count, and other secretarial duties. Mrs. Talley took care of the financial records and filled in where needed. Our individual school secretaries were always doing something. Mrs. Bartow, Mrs. Guillot, and Mrs. Johnson were constantly doing DRA forms, typing, helping the deans, looking for absent or missing students, keep- ing cumulative grade books, making up the Dean's List, assisting the students as need- ed, and much, much more.
