Harassed only occasionally by a small band of wandering lndians or by some four' footed denizen of their comparatively peaceful world they increased to countless millions. Then came the white man, bringing wanton destruction and complete annihilation to these noble beasts. So. regardless of numbers or strength, Nature again fell before the relentless conqueror.
