Standing: Sandra Smith, Secretaryg Margo Dillon, President, Joanne Dettman, Vice-President, Virginia Allison, Treasurer The Senior Class of 1954, being the first class to complete our high school career in the new building, has many memories of the school, its system, and our own numerous accomplishments dur- ing the past four years. Because of the lack of space, we were unable to hold a class mixer, but by the spring of '51 we knew each other well enough to thoroughly enjoy ourselves at our first class picnic held at Sinnissippi Park. Mary Saunders, Craig Castle, Nancy Graham, and Nancy Kosier led our class with the en- thusiasm which never died throughout our last four years together. uThe Candy Carousel, our first chance to show the school exactly what we could do, as far as entertainment was concerned, turned out to be a real success. This dance, and many other events, made our Sophomore year one to always remember. John Carrillo, Fred Sinroll, Jean Bloomquist, and Merle Johnson formed the nucleus of the class, and passed along much information valuable to us during our first year out of probation Two years of experience, and the capable guidance of Neil Brown, Herb Reed, Janet Williams, and Larry Larson gave us, as Juniors, the spirit needed to excell in our many endeavors. This spirit seemed to shine more intensely during October of 752, as we won the Homecoming Parade fioat contest and held our second highly successful dance, '4The Jack-O-Lantern Jurnpf' A combination of ideas and skills formulated NFantasia,', the Junior-Senior Prom, and our largest project thus far. Eight of our classmates earned the honor of being inducted into the National Honor Society in the spring of '53. 16

Again in October, as was the year before, our class had a close race in the float contest in the Homecoming festivities, and finished with second place. Our boys, with the help of the entire coaching staff, credited the school and class with many high honors in the sports field. More classmates achieved success in Various competitive spheres, a few being music, debate, and essay contests. The Senior dances, Senior Recognition Day, the Senior class picnic, Baccalaureate, the Junior-Senior Prom, and last but not least, Gradua- tion, highlighted our fourth, and last year in the halls and classrooms of Sterling High School-our Alma Mater. 17
