First To Leave New S H S During the junior year. Lyle .Xlatznick served as president, .Xlarilyn Bawden, vice-president, Bettie XVinn, secretary, and Dick XViddows. treasurer. Because of an undefeated and untied season, the 19-+9 football squad, which included many juniors, succeeded in obtaining the N.C.I.C. Con- ference Championship. The iunior bovs on the 1949-50 varsity basketball team had the honor of being one of the sweet sixteen teams in the state tournament. Surviving its first three years, the class ventured forth into the remain- ing one, which was spent in the new high school building. Because of the delay in starting the fall term, the annual Halloween Frolic was replaced by the Cum Bum dance - directed by Katy Puskedra and Bob Peugh. The seniors initiated the first Senior Recognition Day, an observance which is destined to become traditional in vears to follow. The class also sponsored a dance in the spring. I Acting as oHicers for the senior year were john Michel, president, Bob Peugh, vice-presidentg Ruth Janssen, secretary, and Laverne johnson. treasurer. The senior advisers were Nliss Doris Burritt and Miss Ruth XVelle. The Class of '51 is proud of the fact that they' were the first class to be graduated from the new high school. Class of 'Sl Sponsors Dances These past four years have been pleasant and successful years for the class of '51, partially due to the fact that they were able to enjoy their senior year in the new building. Their interests were divided between athletics and social activities. The main event of their freshman year was a successful Freshman Party, under the leadership of joel Rice and Sally Xlosher. That year they had one of the best frosh-soph football teams in the history of SHS. The Hrst year ofiicers were Chuck Cole, presidentg Kalah XVesner, vice-presidentg Carol Camps, secretaryg and Stan Doden, treasurer. Many couples attended the l'Rainbow Romp, sponsored by the class dur- ing its sophomore year. The presiding officers for 1948-49 were joel Rice, presidentg Bob Peugh, vice-presidentg Lora Lea VVolf, secretaryg and Mar- lene Kenner, treasurer. One of the most exciting things that took place in their high school years was the junior-Senior Prom- Harmony In Heaven, which highlighted their junior year.
