A 'H' in , l c: nan c U, 5 j l t Q MP' A H . Won't you come in? We'll be glad to show you around our school. I am Steve Sterling, and this is my sister Sally. We're both seniors, so we think we know our way around the building. We're rather crowded here, because our enrollment has increased in recent years. That means there will be plenty for you to see. We'll show you the 609 students busy with the various activities of a normal school day. Some will be in class rooms, others in labratories, and many H the study hall. Also we want you to meet our teachers, and see a bit of our social and athletic 1 e.

The school fronts east on Fifth Avenue, a red brick structure covering half a city block. Late in the fall of 1896 the present building opened with about twenty pupils. From 1914 to 1918 there was a demand for more room to accommodate the teaching of such subjects as manual training and home economics. Bonds were voted in 1918 and the north addition of our school was built. In 1936 the house formerly occupied by the principal of the high school was remodeled for home economics classes. The frame building to the west was fitted for vocal music and art classes. 2

As the administrative head of the school, he is a .busy man indeed. However, the amazing thing to students, faculty, and townspeople is that he seems to know every student as an mdividual, and treat him as such. That is why he IS not only principal, but friend as well, to every member of the high school family.
