.fsffazzrzafz Merrill Taber, co-captain of the nineteen thirty-seven foot- ball team, is another three year letter man .... He has been a big help in keeping the other team at bay. Lewis Kornman, with one varsity letter to his credit, has faithfully fulfilled his duties as guard on the team .... He graduates this spring. Milt, tackle on the team, has always turned in a capable per- formance on the field, rain or shine .... Green has earned one varsity letter. Lawton McCandless, first rate guard on the team, earned his letter this year with his ability to staunch the flow of opponents through his side of the line. DeVere Tarvin has proved a good stable guard, ready in emergencies to fill any gaps in the line. Crrin Book has been in there fighting for nigh on to two years and has certainly earned his two varsity letters. Bob jurkens, tall, lanky end, has, in his easy going way, proved a big help to the team by his snagging of long passes out of the air .... He graduates this year with one letter to his credit. Z9

oofgafifi Vernon Frye, for two years first string end on the football team, has distinguished himself by his excellent scoring ability and his capable defense work . . . Sterling High loses an excellent all around player when he gradu- ates this spring. With three letters and the honor of sharing the captaincy of the nineteen thirty-seven foot- ball team to his credit, Herbert Marschang has proved his worth as a hack who is not afraid to find an opening in the line and then smash his way through it. Harlan came to us this year from another school, but his advantage of weight and his unusual swiftness won him his varsity letter . . . Nelson will not be back next year. Bob Thomas, another end on the varsity lineup, has been up among the leaders for the last two years .... Two letters have been earned by him. A good tackle and an all around right guy, Don Allen has received two letters for his services to his team. john Powell, flashy quarter- back, has made up for his di- minutiveness by his speed and consistent drive .... Johnny graduates this year with one varsity letter to his credit. The mainstay of the team, Harold Reed, was converted into a center this year .... For two years he has filled up the gaps in the line with his hard hitting and straight diving. 28

john Frey, co-captain elect, is expected to do hig things next year in halfback position .... He has already been the recipient of two varsity letters. Wzlrreri Reitzel, in the other halfhack position, is also ex- pected to carry out his side of the captaincy .... A two letter man, he will he in there plugging hard next year. Everett Birch could always he counted on to keep up the morale of his teammates in his all important quarterback posi- tion .... A level head and cun- ning in selecting plays for his teammates earned Everett his varsity letter this year. Ed Gehhardt, another junior prospect, is also a member of the hackfield .... With one letter to his credit he is to he counted on next year. Keith worked hard to keep up the tradition made hy his brother, Harold Healey, and succeeded in doing so .... l'le'll he out there again next year. Charles Gasso played that very diflicult position of center. . . . Next year he should do well in the Varsity lineup.
