In the year 1942, Miss Bernice Alexander and Mrs. Mary Crossno were our first grade teachers. (Only eight of the original twenty-one are graduating this year.) Duke and Duchess were Billy Joe and Shirley. At the end of school, we had our first school picnic. In the second grade, teachers were Miss Alma Richardson and Miss Lucille Hodges. Dan and Jackie were Duke and Duchess. This year we had a May Day program. Teacher in the third grade, Mrs. Mary Crossno, said we MUST learn our multiplication tables, and WE DID. Duke and Duchess were Dolores and Hal, Jr. The fall of 1945 ushered in the fourth grade. Miss Mary Brammer was our teacher. We learned many interesting things in science. Billy Cain and Jackie were Duke and Duchess. Miss Nettie McMasters was our teacher in the fifth grade. Billy Cain and Betty were Duke and Duchess. The highlight of the year was our first formal dance given at Bill Swann's home, on Valentine's Day. In the sixth grade, Jackie resorted to violence, and as the result, Hal, Jr. received a knot on his head from a baseball bat. Mrs. Imogene Blackburn was our teacher. Bobbie and Gene were Duke and Duchess. Mrs. Bena Davis was our teacher the seventh year; we had a- Texas History Club which we all enjoyed. Shirley and Clinton were the Halloween Duke and Duchess. We gave a Western party for the eighth grade. Earl Blair and Betty Dunn were our Halloween Duke and Duchess, and Walter Duff was our teacher in the eighth grade. This year we all visited the insane asylum at Big Spring. Betty Dunn and Jacque Foster were grade school cheerleaders. Graduation was the highlight of the year with Bill Swann having the highest grade and Betty Dunn and Celia Ruth Hanson the second highest. Our Freshman year is one we will never forget. Especially initiation! Madell Ben-ningfield and Earl Blair were Prince and Princess. Miss Jo Shinn was our sponsor. Sophomore year Burr Reynolds was our sponsor. June and Gene were our Prince and Princess. Remember playing hooky our Junior year and the weeks that followed? Halloween was certainly fun, too! (Will we ever forget Hood and the skunk?) Memories of the Atomic Blonde (Junior Play), linger also. Mr. D.L. Haralson was our sponsor, and Betty and Earl were King and Queen of Halloween. Here we are Seniors, and Mr. Haralson is still our sponsor. Jacque and Don were King and Queen of Halloween. Outstanding events of 1954 are Kid Day, Junior-Senior Day, the Senior Play, House for Sale—Haunted; the trip to Mexico(M.O.P.), and of course, graduation.
