CLASS PROPHECY The moment is tense. Not a person is stirring. The Senior Class of ’49 are gathered around the crystal ball of Swammee anxiously awaiting the message from the far away spirit. The purpose of this horseplay is to see what each of the seniors will be doing at this same time in 1959. The contact is ready. Wait------ Who do you suppose is the first one to appear? Why it’s Margaret Ritter. What is that funny thing she is holding in her hand? It’s a flask and test tube. You didn’t know it, but Margaret is planning to become a famous scientist and this proves her expectations------she is one. Our next image is Trinabeth Reed. What is that freakish looking garb she has on? Well, you couldn’t expect anything better because you see she is wearing the latest thing designed for interior decorators. Some class. And here’s Harold Baker. I have heard that his cowboy band is just out of this world In fact it has been rumored that he is giving Eddie Arnold a run for his money. Who would have ever thought of Blaine Mitchel becoming a famous agriculturist. They say his cross between the strawberry plant and the wheat plant has resulted in the most unique type of breakfast cereal. Buddy Cole steps into the spotlight. You know he has become a well-known minister and they even say that he will some day be another Billy Sunday. We see Dick Bailey sitting at a desk with his feet propped up, smoking a cigar, watching his secretary type his letters. We understand he is now quite rich from his investments made with embezzled funds of the Senior Class of 1949. And now the crystal ball of Swammee is no longer clear, but we part, much happier about the future of our dear class.

CLASS WILL We, the Senior Class of 1949 of Sterling High School being of sound mind and reasonably good judgement do hereby make, execute, publish and declare this to be our last will and testament, revoking any and all wills made colfectively including any and all promises which may com-flict with this document, including individual promises. To the Seniors of ’50 we leave our home room with the expressed hopes of Mr. Ratliff that you will keep it looking better than we did. To the Class of ’51, now sophomores, we bequeath our differences in opinion, with the hope that your twenty members may learn to think as one. To the Class of ’52, fish to you, we leave our dignity and sophistication. To Richard Foster, Harold Baker leaveshis ability to sing. With a voice like yours, Richard, you need something. Blaine Mitchel leaves to Richard Willis his ability to punch cows rather than punching some poor boy’s nose. Margaret wills her ability to keep quiet in class to Billy Ralph Bynum, even though a muffler would work better. Trinabeth Reed wills her peroxide formula to Joan King. Dick Bailey leaves his ability to accomplish great grades to Elroy Butler in hope that Elroy will get out of school before he is forty. Buddy Cole wills his poetic ability of praising girl’s beauty to Harry Blanek, who is in need of something besides a model A. We hereby appoint the President of the Senior Class of 1950 sole executor of this our last will and testament. SIGNED, SENIOR CLASS OF 1949
