MY MEMOIRS We have twenty-two pupils in the first grade. We like to go to school, and are working hard. The only trouble we have had is over names. We have three Donalds, two Wandas and two Helens in our room. Well, here it is May first, and we are all looking forward to our May Day Festival tonight. The boys will be dressed as Sunbeams, and the girls will perform the duties of flower girls. I might mention here that our first grade teacher is Miss Eloise Nelson, and our princess for the Halloween Carnival was Trinabeth Reed and her escort was 'Don House. I’ll close this year with going on our first school picnic. Boy! did we have fun. Our second grade teacher is Mrs. W. S. Nelson. Our class has decreased some, but not enough to hurt, yet. This year we shared our picnic with the first grade on May 10. We had a lot more fun because there were more of us. Here we are in the third grade. There are eighteen of us now and we have had two teachers, Miss Ida Mae Roberts and Mrs. Emery. What do you know—we skipped a grade and are feeling quite smart as fifth graders. Our class is still decreasing with only twelve in it, now. Miss Rena Ball is our teacher. Now we are in Junior High and really feeling smart. Our sixth grade teacher was Miss Flo Allen, our seventh grade teacher was Mrs. T. C. Davis, and our eighth grade teacher was Miss Ball again. Graduation was very exciting. Honor students were Dick Bailey, valedictorian and Margaret Ritter, salutatorian. What do you know? We are freshmen, and Oh Brother! we’ve got everything that goes with it including plenty of beatings. Miss Mildred Atkinson is our sponsor. The year has passed like wild fire. Now, we find ourselves sophomores with quite a large class. Mr. Herman Carter was our sponsor this year. Our being in high school really does take on light now that we are full fledged juniors. This year we have for our sponsor, Miss Evelyn Vernon. Our play is entitled Take It Easy . As customary we entertained the seniors on Junior-Senior Day. We went to San Angelo, went swimming, bowling, had dinner at Steve’s, went skating, and then went to the show. It won’t be long now before we are Seniors as we realize that our rings are already here to be presented to us on the night of graduation. Our officers are Margaret, President; Blaine, Vice-president; Trinabeth, Secretary, Dick, Treasurer. The long awaited year has finally arrived. WE ARE SENIORS. At the time of this publication we are in the midst of selecting our play, planning our trip and raising money for it. There are only six of us now; R. B. left at mid-term. These six include four that started together in the first grade. They are Margaret, Trinabeth, Buddy and Dick; others are Harold and Blaine. No matter what the hardships, school has really been grand.
