Operating almost exclusively in sensitive areas of strategic importance to our country with a high tempo ot operations at sea, the crew of S TERE TT has modestly assumed the title of The First Team. With the complexity of a modern warship such as STERETT with the wide range ol tasks that the ship can be assigned one quickly comes to the realization that there are no small parts to play, there are no minor roles. lt is, without question, truly a team ellort. The period covered with its demanding operations has also been one ol recognition for S TERE TT The ship received the coveted Battle E or overall excellence award many departmental and retention awards, and many olticers and men received individual recognition for their significant and unsellish contributions to make .Q TERE T T the line ship , , , and line lamily , . , that she is. lt is entirely litting, and most appropriate, that we recognize our First Team lamilies and lriends ashore through the dedication ol this hook. llicliard l7 Geriel Cllllllllillllflllqgf Ullicei
