Comprised of Sonar Technicians and lorpedomen, they are trained to detect, track, and destroy subsurface threats, The technicians in Sonar Control have the capability to listen to the ocean environment to detect the Wt 4' presence of submarines. There are many factors such as sea temperature, salinity, type of seabeds that affect the ships ability to track an enemy submarine. The Torpedomen are tasked with the maintenance for the MK 46 antisubmarine torpedoes. They have received extensive training in handling and preparation for launch of these torpedoes.
