It is under his leadership and guidance that Stephens has grown and developed from the small college it was to the well-equipped insti- tution of today. President Wood's intensive interest in other people has given him an unusual insight into the Worries and problems of others, and it is because of this that so many girls seek the advice and encouragement he so readily offers. To all of us who admire and love him, it is President Wood himself who exemplifies the Good Life which is found here at Stephens. DEAN SHCDFSTALI. I deal with the unimportant problems of the student, for I feel that the important crises which arise will 'take care of themselves, asserts our very practical Dean Shofstall, in explanation of his work. These unimportant problems include not only the advisory system, educational guidance, a11d constant experiments with new ideas, but also the assist- ing of the individual girls in the attainment of harmonious adjustments and cnviromnents. Through friendly discussions, he helps to solve many difficulties, some of them no doubt insignificant, but exceed- ingly important to the girl who needs help. Because he is so unassuming and understanding, his waiting room is constantly crowded with girls in need of counsel. DEAN JCI-INSCDN Serving in the capacity of both Librarian and Dean of Instruction, is friendly Dean Johnson. Because he believes that nothing contributes more to scholarship than the realiza- tion of what a good book has to offer, he is primarily inter- ested in making the library a place for enjoyment as well as study. He feels that scholarship and love of books are closely bound together. Dean Johnson has inspired students to read and become acquainted with books by making 'them easily available. As Dean of Instruction, his influence reaches into every classroom and contributes greatly to tl1e continued improvement of instructions on campus. Page 14
