MIRROR CLASS OF 194 The Changing Faculty Above are the thirty-four faculty members ol' Palmcrton high school pictured at the be- ginning of the 1941-42 school term. Two of these, Mrs. Marvin W. Foley and Mr. John C. Young, were replaced during the year by substitute teachers. Miss Priscilla Wescott was added to the faculty for next year, replacing 81044 Jfqdlefzia The senior class of 1942 started the begin- ning of its end one fateful day in September in the year of our Lord one thousand nine- teen hundred and forty one when the mem- bers returned through those beloved t?J port- als for their twelfth and final year-they thought. After receiving their books and inscribing their degrees, titles, nicknames, and other identifications on every page-well-every other page, Cas well as desks, chairs, walls, etc.J they carefully packed the books away in their locker where they remained undisturbed for the following eight months. Things got under way with a bang in chem lab when some scientist was experimenting in order to find out which was the stronger, the floor or a test tube . . . also the first lab equipment began disappearing. Then came football. Some seniors played with the team on the field, some coached in bleachers, and the others were busy selling or should we say trying to sell refreshments. One man is probably still mystitied about how after paying a quarter for a soda and hot dog he received a dime, a nickel, and a quarter for change. However, the team made up for that which the refreshment committee lacked by beating Northampton for the first time in a Mrs. Foley, while Mrs. Douglas A. Roth con pleted Mr. Youngs term as a substitute teach er. Mr. Robert B. Hunter, special educati teacher, will not return next year, having at cepted a position as Supervisor of Speci: Education in the tri-county area of Unio Snyder, and Mifflin counties, Pennsylvani game characterized by Northampton's doub reverse fumbles. One bright Monday morning someone in tl hall mentioned the Vultures. From tha time hence the Vultures have been the tal of the school. For those who still have not mf them, I might say that they are a secret orde of the wolves of the senior class who hat sworn not to attend school for more tha three straight days and not to miss an athlet contest. Near the end of November the basketba season got under way, with the refreshmel committee still trying--oh, well, they learns the hard way. Then came spring, when a young man fancy turns to baseball. Ah, yes,-the wolve were still batting 1000. The next event of importance was whe several senior girls who never miss a bargai night at the Ranch House won their silvf spurs. Thus on the twelfth day of June in the ye: one thousand nine hundred and forty two th wide earth creaked and rocked on its ax when the Seniors of S,S. Palmer high schon were set free to make the world a safer insar place in which to live. thirty-two
